PLACEMENT OF TOTES:

  • Totes must be placed in the boulevard or street area approximately 1 ft from the curb

  • Totes must be placed at least 3 feet from obstacles such as utility poles, mail boxes, trees, fences and cars

  • There must be 3 feet between the totes

  • Handle on tote must face toward your home

  • Do not place your tote on top of a snow bank

  • Winter – shovel a level area in the boulevard when placing totes there

  • If cars are parked on your street please use your driveway for placement of totes

General Information about Totes

  • Recycling and garbage cannot be mixed in the totes

  • Trash must be bagged (any form of bag) in the tote to keep tote clean and reduce windblown litter

  • Totes cannot be overfull – covers must shut completely

  • Garbage or recycling not in tote (along side or on top) will not be taken and in some cases the tote will not be emptied due to excess on tote

  • Totes are assigned to a residential address, do not move totes to another location

  • Toes need to be placed where automated truck has access to tote

  • Totes are on wheels and are easy to roll and do not need to be picked up and carried

  • Do not write, paint or put stickers on totes

  • The automated dumping process lifts the tote upside down and stops with a slight jolt so trash/recycling in the tote will fall out, unless it has been wedged, forced, or compacted into the container

  • Automated truck will make one pass on each side of the street to empty the totes and will not back track for late totes that come out

  • Totes have a smooth interior for easy cleaning

  • Shredded paper put into recycling must be bagged

  • Do not place construction material or hazardous materials in the totes

  • Totes will not be put on temporary suspension
